5th of May – A thousand km and beyond

175,08 km Kokkokylä - Poulanka

I managed to accomplish the 1000^th km. It hasn´t been easy, but I did it. I know I have a really long way left, but this is just the beginning.

The day started pretty good. Pasi gave me some “kuivaliha”, dried cow heart meat, it´s something typical from here. It´s the first time I try it, and I really like it. It´s perfect for a quick snack. I´m amazed with Finish hospitality.

I left the house while Pasi was taking pictures of me for the newspaper. Soon after that I did the 1000^th kilometer. The weather was great so I stopped for food and spent quite some time just enjoying the sun.

From there everything went worst. I arrived to Pudasjärvi, and it was really hard to get directions to a bookshop. Everybody run away from me. At the end I found a young student that showed me the way, but they didn´t have the Little Prince, a book that I collect in different languages. I hope to find it before I leave Finland.

I continued and it started raining. It´s the first time I get rain, before it was snow. I also saw how waterproof I was: not much, half of my things got wet. Luckily I had put the important things in plastic bags, as I didn´t really trust the big plastic covering everything.

The worst thing is that one of my phones is not working, I guess it got wet. Hopefully it will work when it dries.

 Also the landscape it´s not that nice, just pine plantations. It´s true that from the mountains there is a really nice view.

I did lots of km. First because I didn’t want to put the tent with heavy rain, so I continued till it stopped a bit. And also I´ll get to Joensuu by Saturday, and I want to get there in the early afternoon. I really like this nature, but now I want to visit a city.

Today I took really few and bad pictures, so I will only put one when I´m exactly at the 1000^th kilometer.

5^th of May – 1000 kilómetros y más allá

175,08 km Kokkokylä - Poulanka

Hoy he alcanzado el kilómetro 1000, no ha sido fácil, pero lo he conseguido. Sé que todavía me queda mucho camino, pero esto es solo el comienzo.

El día ha empezado bastante bien. Pasi me ha dado un poco de “kuivaliha”, que es carne de corazón de vaca seca, algo típico de aquí. Es la primera vez que lo pruebo y esta rico, es genial para comer algo rápido.

He salido de la casa mientras Pasi me sacaba fotos para el periódico. Poco después he hecho el kilómetro 1000. Hacía sol, así que he parado a comer y he estado disfrutándolo un rato.

De ahí todo ha ido a peor. He llegado a Pudasjärvi, y ha sido difícil encontrar a alguien que me indicara donde había una librería, pues la gente huía de mí. Pero luego he encontrado un estudiante que me ha indicado una, pero no tenían El Principito, un libro que colecciono en diferentes idiomas. Espero poder comprarlo antes de salir de Finlandia.

He seguido el camino y ha empezado a llover. Es la primera vez que me llueve, hasta ahora solo he tenido nieve. También he comprobado lo resistente que soy al agua: poco. La mitad de las cosas se me han mojado. Por suerte, al no fiarme del plástico que he puesto encima de las alforjas, las cosas importantes iban en bolsas de plástico.

Lo peor ha sido que uno de mis móviles no funciona. Espero que solo sea la humedad y empiece a funcionar dentro de poco.

La naturaleza no es tan bonita por aquí, solo hay plantaciones de pinos. Pero cuando subo a una colina las vistas son espectaculares.

He hecho muchos kilómetros. Primero porque estaba lloviendo y no quería poner la tienda cuando llovía tan fuerte, así que he esperado a que parara un poco. Además, el sábado llegaré Joensuu, y quiero llegar relativamente pronto, para poder visitar la ciudad.

Hoy he sacado muy pocas fotos, y bastante malas, así que solo he puesto una del momento en el que hacía el kilómetro 1000.
