14th of May – Change of plans

169,13 km  Narva – Tapa

At the end I’m not in Tallin, as expected, but in the Estonian countryside. The only reason I was going to Tallin was to meet a friend that I hadn´t seen for over 4 years. But he called me and said that we could go to his parent’s house, so here I am, In Tapa.

Before I started from Narva I went around the place, with the bike. It´s true that it had a couple nice buildings, but I didn’t really like the town.

On the way I was not in a very good mood. I was tired, for sleeping few, and it was quite cold sometimes. Also I had to go on the main road, and there were too many cars.

The landscape is changing. Here there are lots of fields, and for the first time I can see flowers. But there are forests too.

Finally I got to Rakvere, where I went off the main road and I met my friend. There is a really nice castle there, and I could visit it for free, because today is Museum Day in Estonia. My friend, Madis, didn´t arrive till a while later, but his brother was working as a blacksmith in the castle and looked after my bike while I visited the fortress.

When my friend arrived we went for a little walk in the town. I liked the place and it also has a nice looking church. It´s medieval and exotic looking.

From there we went by bike to Tapa, the village where he grew up. We are staying at his parents place. Before we got here we picked up some flowers, to make tea.

When we got to the house we went to the sauna. It was over 100 degrees (Celsius)! We made some breaks and went to the garden, where it was raining and quite cold. It´s the spring equivalent of jumping to an ice cold lake.

I tried kama with kefir (something really Estonian) and I met most of his brothers and sisters. They are 10, so there are lots of kids. The smallest one, 3 years old, was trying to tell me many things, but unfortunately I don´t speak Estonian.

The pictures below are the castle and the church in Rakvere, and a construction. I saw a lot on the way, it turns out that they are cellars.

14 de Mayo – Cambio de Planes

169,13 km  Narva – Tapa
