7th of June – The search of bike shops and a boat trip in the Danube

Today there were a couple things I had to do, but I left it for the afternoon. In the morning I just rested. After noon it got quite busy actually. I didn´t succeed buying the things I want, but I saw the apartment where I will live next year, and I went for a boat trip in the Danube.

I decided that I needed to get a new phone for my Hungarian number. Mine stopped working in the first week of the trip, so I was quite annoyed. I wanted to borrow one, but first I gave a last chance to my phone. I charged, and … it worked!! I guessed it dried and now is working just fine.

After lunch I started going to bike shops, because I really need to buy a new cable for the speedometer, or a whole one if they don´t sell just this piece. Rozi, my girlfriend, accompanied me, and we went to several shops. None of them had Sigma ones, so no luck there.

I also decided to buy some SPD sandals. It´s true that it´s almost one kilo more, but as I’m leaving more than 5 kilos of winter things, it´s still very good. Only in one place I found them, but they where way too big. He recommended some places to look for them, but it was too late, and they were no longer open.

Afterwards we went to see the flat that we will share. It belongs to one of her relatives, so we will only pay the expenses. It´s a great place. I really like it. It has a kitchen and 2 other rooms, and the ceiling is really high. It even has dishwasher. I could not ask for anything better, not even for a rent.

Later we started going to the Danube. We got invited to boat trip in this river. In this boat they are going to change the audio guide, so the person who did it wanted us to listen to it. As we had some time, we went to a quite touristic street, where I hadn´t been before, I don´t know why. We sat down in a terrace and ordered their beer, but they didn´t have any. The truck bringing it was late, so there was no beer at all. So we left.

The weather was nice, and there were even stars, so the wait till the boat trip went fast. And it was great to be able to sit down in the outside of the boat. The trip was great, it´s a nice way to see some of the main attractions in Budapest. The audio guide was strange at the beginning, they pretended it was the river who was talking. But after a bit I got used to it and it was really nice, and it told lots of stories, as well as the information.

It was fun resting today and walking just a bit. It´s true that I could not find what I wanted in the shops, but I still have tomorrow, because I decided that I’m leaving on Thursday to the Lake Balaton to continue my trip. I will visit one friend in Ljubljana, where I will stop for 2 nights, but from there I think I will cross to France without any more stops.

7 de Junio – la búsqueda de tiendas de bici y viaje por el Danubio.

Hoy ha habido un par de cosas que tenía que hacer, pero lo he dejado para la tarde. Por la mañana he descansado. Después del medio día, todo se ha liado un poco. No he conseguido comprar todo lo que quería, pero he visto el apartamento donde voy a vivir el año que viene, y he dado una vuelta en barco por el Danubio.

He decidido que necesito un teléfono para mi número húngaro. El mío dejó de funcionar la primera semana del viaje, por lo que estaba bastante molesto. He pedido uno prestado, pero antes de cogerlo le he dado la última oportunidad al móvil. Lo he cargado y … ¡ha funcionado! Supongo que solo era la humedad.

Después de comer he empezado a ir a tiendas de bicis, ya que necesito un cable nuevo para mí velocímetro, o uno nuevo si no venden esta pieza suelta. Rozi, mi novia, me ha acompañado y hemos ido a varios sitios. En ningún lado tenían de la marca Sigma.

También he decidido comprarme sandalias SPD. Es verdad que pesan casi un kilo, pero como me voy a dejar aquí más de 5 kilos en ropa de invierno, creo que no va haber problemas. Solo había en un sitio pero eran demasiado grandes. El dependiente me ha recomendado otro local, pero ya era tarde y no estaba abierto.

Después hemos visto el piso que vamos a compartir. Pertenece a un familiar de Rozi, por lo que solo tenemos que pagar los gastos. Está muy bien. Me encanta. Tiene una cocina y 2 habitaciones, y el techo es muy alto. Incluso tiene un lavavajillas. Creo que no podría encontrar algo mejor ni pagando.  

Más tarde hemos empezado a ir al Danubio. Nos han invitado a una vuelta en barco por este rio. La persona que ha hecho el texto de la grabación quería que lo oyésemos antes de que lo cambien. Como teníamos algo de tiempo hemos ido a una calle muy turística en la que no había estado antes. Nos hemos sentado en una terraza y hemos pedido una cerveza casera, pero no tenían. El camión con la cerveza no había llegado, por lo que no tenían nada. Por lo que nos hemos ido.

El tiempo se estaba portando muy bien, incluso había estrellas, por lo que la espera ha ido rápido. Y ha estado genial poder estar en la cubierta del barco. El viaje ha estado muy bien, y he visto muchas atracciones turísticas desde el río. Al principio la grabación me ha parecido rara. Era el rio el narrador, pero cuando me he acostumbrado, me ha gustado. Contaba muchas historias aparte de la información.

Ha sido un día tranquilo divertido. Es verdad que no he encontrado lo que quería, pero todavía me queda mañana. Ya he decidido que me voy el jueves hacia el lago Balatón, siguiendo mi camino. Voy a visitar un amigo en Liubliana, donde voy a estar dos noches, pero desde ahí creo que no voy a descansar hasta Francia.
