56km (aprox) Nagymaros – Budapest
5 de Junio – Siguiendo el Danubio azul
Once in Hungary I´m taking it easy. Not many kilometers, and just resting for the rest of my trip. I still haven´t decided how long I will be here, but I guess I will have to soon.
Nagymaros is a great place to relax, walk by the Danube while eating an ice-cream, and enjoy the nature and the views of the Visegrád castle, just in the other side of the river. This is what I did during the morning. For lunch we had Palacsinta (similar to pancakes), at my girlfriend´s place. It was nice to enjoy a meal with part of her family.
After eating it started raining so we decided to wait. But it seemed that it was not going to stop. Luckily around 4 it did stop, and we started going to Budapest. Her parents took my bags with the car, so it was a really easy ride.
I´ve gone from Nagymaros to Budapest by bike before, but never in this side of the river. It´s flat, easy, and till Dunakeszi there is a bike road (part of the Eurovelo) by the river. It´s a really nice place. We stopped every 18 km, to rest and enjoy the sunny afternoon.
But after this there is a part that the bike way ends, just like that. And it´s not allowed to go by bike on the road. Thanks Eurovelo, what am I suppose to do now? Really, I thought Eurovelo was something worth trusting, even do they make bad maps, but after this I´m really angry at them.
We asked in a gas station, and the person working there said to follow the road, that it was less than 2 km, and then there was a bike road again. He told us that he knew it was not allowed, but everybody went through there. And it´s true that there are many marks that bike go this way.
After this incident, we followed the bike road all the way to my girlfriend´s house in the center of Budapest. But my speedometer broke. The cable broke in half, so I can´t really say how many km I did exactly, that´s why I wrote aprox. With the daily km.
We arrived quite late to the city, so there was no time to do anything else. And as she has to work tomorrow early in the morning, we decided to go to bed.
I made it to Budapest. It hasn´t been easy, but I´m proud of myself. I´ve done around 4500 km and another 3500 left. One of the things I know now is that I´m going to go through Getxo (where I grew up), before I keep going south. In the next couple of days I will post the maps for the rest of the journey.

56km (aprox) Nagymaros – Budapest
Una vez en Hungría me lo estoy tomando con calma. No haciendo muchos kilómetros, descansando y recuperando fuerzas para el resto del viaje. Todavía no he decidido cuanto me voy a quedar, pero tendré que decidir pronto.
Nagymaros es un sitio ideal para descansar, pasear al lado del Danubio comiendo un helado, y disfrutar la naturaleza y las vistas al castillo de Visegrád, en la otra orilla. Esto es lo que he hecho por la mañana. Para comer hemos tomado palacsinta (una especie de tortitas), en la casa de mi novia. Ha estado bien comer con su familia.
Después de comer ha empezado a llover, por lo que hemos decidido esperar un rato. Parecía que no iba a parar, pero por suerte, unas horas más tarde lo ha hecho, y hemos podido ir a Budapest. Sus padres me han traído las alforjas en el coche, por lo que ha sido un paseo.
He ido de Nagymaros a Budapest varias veces, pero nunca por este lado del rio. Es llano, fácil, y hasta Dunakeszi hay carril bici (parte de Eurovelo), al lado del rio. Es un camino muy agradable. Hemos parado cada 18km para descansar y disfrutar de la tarde.
Pero después de este pueblo, el carril bici termina, así, sin más. Y encima no se podía ir por la carretera. Gracias Eurovelo, ¿que se supone que tengo que hacer ahora? En serio, pensaba que Eurovelo era algo en lo que se podía confiar, aunque hagan mapas malos, pero después de esto, estoy muy descontento con ellos.
Hemos preguntado en una gasolinera, y la persona trabajando allí nos ha dicho que sigamos la carretera, sabía que no estaba permitido para las bicis, pero que solo eran dos kilómetros. Y todo el mundo la utiliza, pues había muchas marcas de bici.
Después de este incidente, hemos seguido el carril bici hasta la casa de mi novia en el centro de Budapest. Pero mi velocímetro se ha roto. El cable se ha partido en dos, por lo que no sé exactamente cuántos kilómetros he hecho, por eso he puesto “aprox” arriba.
Hemos llegado tarde a la ciudad, por lo que no hemos tenido tiempo para nada más. Y ella tiene que trabajar mañana temprano, así que nos hemos ido a dormir.
He conseguido llegar a Budapest. No ha sido fácil, pero estoy orgulloso de mí mismo. Unos 4500km, y solo me quedan 3500. Una de las cosas que ya sé seguro es que voy a pasar por Getxo, por casa, antes de seguir hacia Tarifa. En los próximos días pondré un mapa, con el recorrido para el resto del camino.
Bueno, bonito día, por carril bici (¡me encantan las fotos dedicadas sólo a las bicis, la del camino, la del semáforo!), y acompañado...me imagino que cambia cuando vas con alguien, es mucho más ameno y divertido.
